The PSM-500 particle size analyser pulls a continuous sample using a vacuum eductor. Samples are de-aerated in the conditioner before being passed between diametrically opposed ultrasonic sensors and returned to the process.

"The ability to measure product out of the grinding circuit in real-time can have very large benefits. By optimising grinding control systems, operators can maximise throughput, use energy more effectively and achieve greater recovery," said field marketing manager, Scott Ferguson.

The company also launched a proven cross belt analyser, CB Omni Fusion, that uses prompt gamma neutron activation analysis (PGNAA) for bulk ore sorting applications.

The analyser can continuously measure in real-time the elemental composition of an entire raw material stream on a conveyor belt, without touching the materials.

CB Omni Fusion can improve process efficiency and minimises production costs in a variety of processes and mining operations for limestone, copper, iron ore, nickel, phosphate, cement production, iron ore sintering and more, the company said.

Thermo Fisher Scientific has also announced that it will sponsor the Coalition for Energy Efficient Comminution (CEEC), a global not-for-profit communication hub working to drive the uptake of more energy and water efficient, lower impact mineral processing.

"We're proud to partner with companies that provide solutions for efficient and sustainable mining. These relationships open the door to wider awareness and adoption of new technologies and processes that positively impact the industry," said CEEC chief executive Alison Keogh.

CEEC also added Newcrest Mining to its list of sponsors recently
