Sandvik, a Sweden-based mine equipment manufacturer, has completed the acquisition of the South African company Kwatani, a supplier of custom-engineered screens and feeders.
In a statement, the company said Kwatani's product offering includes screens, feeders, fine separators, drives and services. Kwatani had revenues of million SK175 million (USD$19.32) in 2020, according to Sandvik.
The acquisition was initially announced in May 2021, when Kwatani described it as a "game-changer" for the vibrating equipment market.
Anders Svensson, president of Sandvik Rock Processing Solutions, said in May 2021 that Kwatani's portfolio of products would "be a good complement" to Sandvik's strong competence and experience within stationary crushing and screening.
Additionally, the deal will strengthen Sandvik's place in the rock processing market and expand its presence in southern Africa.
The Kwatani brand will remain unchanged, but the company will be incorporated into Sandvik Rock Processing Solutions. Kwatani will access Sandvik's monitoring and automation processes and its extensive research and development, including simulators and artificial intelligence.
