Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions will deploy its AutoMine load and haul automation system at Codelco's El Teniente mine in Chile after receiving an order worth SEK 250 million (US$27.5 million).
Additionally, Sandvik received a separate load and haul equipment order from the Chile-based mining company, which brings the order total to SEK 400 million (US$43.9 million).
The company said the contract will run from 2022 to 2027. Codelco would receive Toro TH663i trucks and Sandvik LH514 loaders, and an AutoMine Fleet system, which can be scaled to support 32 machines in 2022 and 2023.
Between 2023 and 2027, Sandvik will deliver additional trucks and loaders, which will be added to the AutoMine Fleet system.
Henrik Ager, president of the business area Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions, said the AutoMine solutions would contribute to "improving safety, reliability and productivity" in mining.
Furthermore, the company described the AutoMine Fleet System as a "highly advanced automation system" for underground loader and truck fleets and said it can "provide tele-remote to fully autonomous operations."
