Vale's Totten mine in Sudbury has resumed operations after several months of being out of production.
The nickel-copper mine ground to a halt in September after a damaged shaft caused disruption to the conveyance system, trapping 39 workers.
A heavy scoop bucket crashed into the lift system, stranding the workers.
"The restart of Totten demonstrates our unwavering commitment to achieve a benchmark of safety and reliability levels across all our sites," Vale's Base Metals Executive Vice President Deshnee Naidoo said in the statement.
Vale maintains production guidance of nickel of between 175,000 and 190,000 for 2022.
