Mayfair posts positive gold recovery rates

Mayfair Gold has recorded strong metallurgical test results for its Fenn-Gib gold deposit in Ontario.

Using direct whole ore cyanidation, recoveries top out at 84.3%, while flotation averages approximately 94% in gold recoveries.

Cyanidation results for the Central Pit Lower sample led to a 91.4% gold recovery, while results for the Footwall Zone Underground had a 94.2% gold recovery.

The metallurgical tests will be completed in the December quarter, and are being undertaken by Ausenco Engineering Canada.

"Our maiden MET campaign confirms that the Fenn-Gib deposit can deliver robust recoveries for both direct and whole ore cyanidation and flotation," chief executive Patrick Evans said.

"The MET results indicate that Fenn-Gib can deliver a clean, high-grade sulphide-and-iron-rich gold concentrate that would be very suitable for milling in conventional leaching or autoclave operations."

Flotation is likely to significantly reduce capital and operating costs, as well as expedite permitting, Evans added.

The samples tested by Ausenco were extracted from seven different drill hole sample locations, taken from the 2021 drill program.

Mayfair aims to complete a preliminary economic assessment by the December quarter.

The Fenn-Gibb project is located in Timmins in Northern Ontario, and holds an indicated resource of 70.2 million tonnes at 0.921 g/t of gold for 2.08 million gold ounces.
