Fission has tapped Tetra Tech Canada as the lead engineering consultant for the front-end engineering and design stage of development.
Ahead of the appointment, the uranium miner completed all required drilling for the front-end engineering and design, including all hydro and geotechnical. Part of this work included the drilling of 12 holes.
Data collected from the drilling effort will be used to optimise the underground mine design and proposed tailings management facility.
"With all front-end engineering and design drilling data now in hand and one of the world's top engineering consulting groups on board, we continue to make excellent progress through this important engineering design stage for the PLS high-grade uranium mine and mill project," said Ross McElroy, president and chief executive of Fission.
PLS is Fission's flagship project located in the Athabasca Basin. The region is known for its high-grade uranium deposits and supplies roughly 9.1% of global uranium supply.
