Emesent specialises in drone autonomy, LiDAR mapping, and data analytics. Deswik makes software for the mining industry that is used in mapping, modelling, movement planning, mine data management, training and other areas.

Under a memorandum of understanding (MoU), the comprehensive combined system will permit sites to capture data from inaccessible locations and include it in mine plans and surveys.

Specifically, the co-designed and semi-automated workflow of the system can import Hovermap data into the DeswikCAD design and solids modelling platform. It creates a workflow which allows uses to "translate" the Hovermap data in minutes with usable surfaces, solids and point clouds for as-built surveys, volume reporting and design updates.

Deswik survey product manager Stephen Rowles said: "The data from Emesent's Hovermap scanner can be imported into Deswik and visualised using any of the attributes that have been captured in the scan. The scan can be filtered, modified, and clipped to suit the user's requirements before being processed in one or more of the dedicated functions for point clouds."

Deswik partner manager Patrick Doig explained that recent globaldevelopments have spurred interest by customers in technologies that can give tech teams the ability to collect data without being on-site.

"A partnership between Deswik and Emesent empowers [our] mutual and future customers to simplify processes, gain additional efficiencies and make value-add decisions to their operations," Doig added.
