The Kansanshi copper-gold mine in Zambia was First Quantum Minerals’ flagship operation from 2005. In mid-2025 when the company completes the US$1.25 billion S3 project at Kansanshi,  will ensure another 20 years of production at an annual rate 200,000-250,000tpa of copper.
