Canadian Wear Technologies launches IoT wear liner monitoring

Canadian Wear Technologies (Abreco), manufacturers of wear protection technology for material handling systems, has unveiled an IoT-based solution that enables mining companies to remotely monitor wear liners in real-time and prevent operational shutdowns.

The company said Abreco IoT, released at MINExpo 2021, will provide visibility of all connected liners' operational status and reduce the requirement for physical inspections.

It explained that wear liners can be monitored through the Abreco IoT exclusive and secure dashboard so that detailed data, such as heat maps, can be viewed remotely.

This it claimed can prevent losses of approximately $1 million when mines are shut down due to unsafe wear lines and related operational issues.

Furthermore, it said the technology can eliminate almost all downtime related to monitoring wear liners, which it says makes maintenance efforts safer and "substantially reduces wear liner inspection costs and risks".
