The new release has been formulated to provide extended drain capability of up to 400,000km, or 250,000mi, and deliver protection in all weather conditions while reducing maintenance costs. It is ideal for heavy-duty (class 6, 7 and 8) manual transmissions, and has been fully approved by Volvo and Mack for use in the respective Volvo I-Shift and Mack mDRIVE synchronised automated manual transmission applications.

"Traxon Synthetic MTF 75W-80 exceeds key performance parameters set by Volvo’s I-Shift specification (STD 1273.07-97307),” the company said, noting that it maintained exceptional in-grade shear stability after a 20-hr KRL shear test (CEC L-45-99) with a loss of less than 3.5% – well within Volvo’s maximum limit of 5%.

Additionally, the oil outperformed Volvo’s viscosity increase limits after a demanding DKA oxidation test (CEC L-48-A-00), 192 hours at a 160°C limit in 100 degrees viscosity testing with nearly half that of the 10% maximum limit.

The new release can also limit drag losses and reduce fuel consumption compared to conventional manual transmission fluid, as well as higher viscosity grades including API GL-4 axle SAE 80W-90 / 75W-90 oils, offers oxidation stability to resist deposits, and sludge formation that can rob equipment and systems of functionality and efficiency.

“The unique fuel-efficient formulation is an advanced product to meet the future demands of new hardware, and is testament to raising the bar on our heavy-duty driveline offering,” heavy-duty engine and driveline oils category portfolio manager Barnaby Ngai said.

Traxon Synthetic MTF 75W-80 is available now. A full list of industry and OEM approvals can be found here.
