According to Reuters, the shipment left January 6 for a late February delivery to Tongling Nonferrous Metals Group via the Port of Tongling. It has an estimated value of about US$25 million.

Tongling Nonferrous is one of China's top copper smelters, the news service said; it is also a partner of Chinese-owned Mirador, which is operated by CRCC-Tongguan subsidiary Ecuacorriente.

Ecuacorriente has a 30-year concession on Mirador, Reuters noted, and according to the Ecuador energy ministry is part of the country's mission to establish industrial-scale mining projects. Tongling Nonferrous in China's Anhui province will receive around 96,000t of copper concentrate each year for that entire concession period.

Mirador is located in the Zamora Chinchipe province of Ecuador's Amazon. Ecuador's other projects include Cascabel, which was awarded to Australia's SolGold, and Llurimagua, to be operated by Enami and Codelco.
