Metso Outotec wins India pelletising order

Traveling grate sinter plants reduce off-gas volumes

Metso Outotec wins India pelletising order

Metso Outotec will deliver and deploy its travelling grate pelletising technology to be integrated with a 432 m2 indurating machine located in RPCL's 3.2 mtpy pellet facility in Sandur, Karnataka.

The technology will be used in the near-term to improve the iron content of the ore, maximizing the potential of the existing resources - a long-term goal is to increase the resource base.

Traveling grate pelletizing plant is an induration technology for iron ore pellet production for a wide range of plant capacities. Traveling grate sinter plant reduces off-gas volumes and the emission of hazardous pollutants, while reducing fuel consumption.

"For Metso Outotec, this is a unique travelling grate reference project in the mid-size concentrate producer segment that is expected to grow. Our process and design expertise suits well for this capacity segment. We are excited to work with RCPL to provide them with a sustainable solution, ensuring high plant performance and product quality," says Attaul Ahmad, Vice President, Ferrous & Heat Transfer business line at Metso Outotec.

Metso Outotec has won several pelletising plant contracts in recent months, including from Beijing Shougang International Engineering Technology (BSIET) to build a plant in southwest China in January.

The company also won an order last October to build a similar pelletising plant for BSIET in the southeastern city of Nantong.
