The investment in the manufacturer of crushing, screening, washing and conveying equipment is part of Superior's global vision.
"Whether it's application advice, service response or manufacturing efforts, our goal is to be closer to our customers," Superior president Jarrod Felton said.
"This is an investment in a team whose core members each have more than 30 years of experience developing crushing and screening technology for our markets."
As a result, in a brand-new, purpose-built factory in Shanghai, Superior will be able to design and manufacture a complete line of bulk material processing and handling equipment for customers outside of North America.
The company said the Shanghai production facility would boost the reliability, responsiveness and quality of its supply chain. It also gives the company's US and Canada-based plants an additional option to access needed components.
In addition to its home plant, Superior operates from five additional US facilities and international factories in Canada, Brazil and China.
The companies did not release any financial details.
