Customized mining and tunneling machines, with Made in Germany standard.

Manufacturing Solutions

Since the foundation in 1968, the Hermann Paus Maschinenfabrik GmbH has constantly expanded their product range covering the sections lift technology, construction machines, industrial vehicles and especially mining and tunneling vehicles.

The company has gained a remarkable reputation on national and international level thanks to its philosophy "Paus… the people who care".

This motto can be well observed when it comes to fulfilling their customer's needs and is particularly implemented within the mining business, which is shaped by many extreme conditions like dust, high temperatures, rough roads and limited space.

Paus' multi-purpose utility vehicles for underground mining Universa 40/ 50 and MinCa perfectly reflect these special needs within this industry. The quick-change system of the Universa vehicles allows an easy attachment of different cassettes to the base platform according to which work is required, like a concrete mixer, a maintenance unit, a scissor lift or a tire handler.

Exactly for these challenges Paus manufactures individual and customized mining and tunneling machines, of course with "Made in Germany" standard.

MinCa is a utility vehicle that also offers a series of cassettes. It can be used for transportation for personnel and material, can function as a firetruck or an ambulance and has even more options available upon request. Especially the MinCa 5.1 was adapted very well to the difficult mining environment.

It has even more room for equipment while transporting five miners though narrow mines. It can be driven despite any road conditions, offers more stability because of oil-immersed multiple disc brakes and conquers space issues with a relatively small turning radius, making it an agile vehicle. The MinCa 5.1 is available as Hybrid, Battery Powered and in Diesel.

Another important factor that is always considered at Paus is safety. In particular within coal mining and the therewith associated risk due to gas development it is important to design flameproof vehicles that guarantee an explosion protection. EU Atex regulations impose that motor temperatures of flameproof vehicles may not be higher than 150°C, which is why Paus developed a five-step cooling system.

Exhaust gases are cooled through inside and outside lines and hereby a good control over the temperature is guaranteed so that it is even possible to cool the exhaust gases down to only 70°C. Moreover, additional flame barriers at the exhaust gas and air intake lines, as well as encapsulated electrical components like display, battery, headlights and switches provide more safety.

And not enough, Paus has also included a sensor that detects gas development and eventually gives the driver a signal. To secure a good sight, Paus has designed their dumper series with a special feature.

Since mining mostly requires millimeter accuracy, and there is not always the space for a turnaround, Paus only sales dumpers with bi-direction driver cabs for a best sight in both directions, to the front and the back, instead of having to sit sideways and having to look constantly either left or right.

This eases neck and shoulder pain and further helps to fight the loss of concentration. Even though underground mining and tunneling is accompanied by various difficulties, this is not a challenge for Paus but rather an ongoing motivation for the teams to work efficiently and innovative while laying the focus on safety first.
