From Epiroc's Pit Viper 271 E electric-driven blasthole drill rig to MEVCO's light vehicles for mining, electrification was everywhere at MINExpo.
But while many original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are keen to show off what the greener, cleaner future might look like, others are firmly focused on the present.
"From here to zero in very high-powered duty cycle markets – it's going to be very difficult to do that today," president of power systems for Cummins Jenny Bush told Mining Magazine.
The cost could be another obstacle for many miners.

"Sticker shock is real," she said.
Instead, they can look at technologies that offer incremental improvements.
A hybrid vehicle, for instance, can reduce emissions by 15% to 20%, while alternative fuels, such as hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) or ethanol, offer further gains.
The company has launched its Destination Zero programme to help companies on that journey.
