Previously, customers looking to implement an industrial UPS solution in harsh environments had to design a fully customized solution to suit their infrastructure needs, which meant more time spent on development and higher costs. With this solution, Schneider Electric is providing customers with the ability to efficiently and cost-effectively implement industrial UPS—helping to bridge the product gap between IT commercial UPS and fully customized UPS for harsh environments. Gutor PXC provides a standardized, pre-engineered versatile solution that doesn’t compromise on performance to save on overall engineering solution cost and lead time.
“In today’s industrial infrastructure environment, there is an entire range of mission critical systems that need secure and reliable power protection against the electrical effects of harsh elements,” said Pedro Robredo, Vice President, Secure Power Systems, Schneider Electric. “Gutor PXC provides the utmost reliability, safety and efficiency to protect critical equipment in remote and rugged conditions, like oil rigs, where an emergency shutdown or sprinkler system activation can occur due to an unexpected disaster, where downtime is not acceptable, and where other UPS systems fail to deliver.”
Ideal for rugged environments with high temperature requirements such as oil and gas exploration and production sites, mining sites, manufacturing plants and transportation infrastructures, Gutor PXC protects critical equipment and industrial applications from damage due to power outages, surges and spikes while providing short-term battery power during an outage. With the solution’s standardized and versatile design, Schneider Electric enables facility managers, engineers and contractors to deploy a reliable, high performance turnkey solution in a dramatically reduced time frame and at a lower cost.
Gutor PXC is highly efficient (up to 93 percent in double conversion mode and 99 percent in ECO mode), with a unity output power factor, power conditioning and overload capability. It offers a standard National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA®) 1 protection rating (easily upgradable to NEMA 12 with the installation of a filter kit), and can operate in environments with temperatures up to 55 degrees Celsius/131 degrees Fahrenheit. Through Gutor PXC, Schneider Electric significantly reduces delivery lead times from an average of 18 weeks to four weeks.
