The new release, produced through a partnership with Australian-based RFI Technology Solutions and designed for mining and tunnelling, improves upon leaky feeders by digitising the network and expanding a system's connectivity capacity.
In addition, mines can upgrade their existing leaky feeder systems to get the digital high-speed abilities without losing the VHF voice communications LFs are known for and counted upon for their reliability.
"Bi-directional line amplifiers (BDA) with Ethernet means mines can interface with their existing fiber networks to inject high-speed Ethernet data to their leaky feeder network," the company said.
"DigitalBridge Quadports can then be placed anywhere along the cable, with each providing four Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) digital ports for the attachment and powering of Ethernet devices."
