With offices in Chile, the US, China, Mexico, Australia and the Asia-Pacific, ME Elecmetal is a global product supplier for mining, construction and industry.

CEEC CEO Alison Keogh welcomed the signing of the new agreement with the steel milling and grinding specialist.

"CEEC's mission is to share mining practices that improve energy efficiency, reduce costs, enhance shareholder value and help businesses achieve sustainability targets," she said.

"As comminution consumes around 3% of the world's electrical energy, it is important to collaborate with organisations such as ME Elecmetal to explore and share options for energy efficiency in mining."

ME Elecmetal's CEO Eduardo Muñoz Huerta wants the company to stay at the forefront of energy-efficient crushing and grinding solutions, and sees how the relationship with CEEC will help facilitate the flow of information between ME and industry.

"CEEC is a not-for-profit group, entirely funded by sponsorship from the minerals industry. We have a strong network and share energy-efficient, lower footprint comminution and processing practices," Keogh said.

"Sponsorship from ME Elecmetal and our other supporters helps us to connect leading thinkers across our network and through our global workshops, promoting best practice and innovation."

In line with CEEC's "causes", ME Elecmetal is currently offsetting the total power requirements for its Chilean steel plants with a renewable energy plant, Las Peñas, generating 32GWh of energy per year.

ME Elecmetal has also had a decade-long partnership with 2019 CEEC Medal winner Metcom Technologies, known for its work on ball mill and cyclone efficiency.

In addition, the company has launched the ME Optimiser system specifically designed to measure in-mill conditions that can be used to improve power and water utilisation.
