Each year we celebrate excellence in the mining industry by inviting our readers to nominate people, companies, groups or projects that they feel have demonstrated outstanding commitment to advancing the state of play in mining over the past 12 months.

Mining Magazine Awards 2023: Nominations nearly closed

Nominations will close at midnight GMT on November 24, and we will announce the shortlisted finalists on November 29. See the criteria below.

The winners will be announced in the January/February print issue of Mining Magazine, and on miningmagazine.com on Monday, January 22, 2024.

The award categories are as follows:

Mining Magazine's Technology & Innovation Award: This award highlights mining companies or individuals who have made significant contributions to the industry through technological advancements. It recognises the development or implementation of innovative mining methods, equipment, or software that enhance efficiency, safety, or productivity.

Who should apply:

Mining Magazine's Safety Excellence Award: This award honours mining companies that have demonstrated exceptional commitment to protecting their workforce and fostering a culture of safety. It rewards companies that can demonstrate they have developed comprehensive safety protocols, develop innovative training programs, and continuously improve operational practices to ensure the well-being of their employees.

Who should apply:

These organisations have demonstrated a commitment to continuous improvement and have achieved significant advancements in areas such as production optimisation, supply chain management, equipment utilisation, and workforce efficiency.

Criteria:  

Mining Magazine Awards 2023: Criteria

Eligibility

The Mining Magazine Awards 2023 are open to individuals, companies, and organisations involved in the global mining industry. Projects, products, or initiatives submitted for consideration must have been implemented or launched within the past three years.

Entry Guidelines

  • Entries can be submitted online via the official Mining Magazine Awards website or via e-mail to craig.guthrie@aspermont.com

  • Each entry must be accompanied by a supporting statement of no more than 800 words, clearly outlining the project's or product's significance, innovation, and impact on the mining industry.

  • Supporting materials, such as images, videos, or case studies, may be included to enhance the entry.

  • Companies are limited to a maximum of three entries across all award categories.

 

Judging Process

A panel of industry experts will review and evaluate most entries based on the following criteria:

  • Innovation and originality

  • Impact on the mining industry

  • Sustainability and environmental considerations

  • Safety and operational excellence

  • Community engagement and social responsibility

In some cases, the award shortlist will be put to a public vote.

 

Additional Rules and Regulations

  • The judges' decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the selection process.

  • Winners may be required to participate in promotional activities related to the awards.
