KSB Australia

With operations in more than 100 countries, KSB Mining's global network encompasses sales and service centers for pump packages and technical support for hard rock and industrial mineral applications. We've served the mining industry in Australia for over 80 years. Meet our team at KSB Down Under.

KSB has two major facilities in Australia, located on the east and west coasts, where our dedicated team ensures delivery of faultless production, optimal customer support, and excellent service. Both facilities house a comprehensive stock selection of end suction pumps, vertical multistage pumps, submersible sewage pumps, submersible borehole pumps, and an extensive range of genuine spare parts, including GIW® Slurry Pumps and KSB Mechanical Seals ready for dispatch. KSB Australia also supplies custom-engineered pumps of any scale, to serve the Mining, Water, Wastewater, Energy, Oil & Gas, Dredge, Building Services, and Manufacturing industries. We also offer maintenance and repairs for KSB and GIW® Slurry Pumps and pumps of other brands.

The KSB Australia production facilities can repair rotating equipment, assemble pumping equipment, and test both dry-install and submersible pumps. In 2020, KSB Hope Valley commissioned a fully automated pump test bay, extending the services of the 3,000 square meter workshop.

Test Bay Capabilities

The capabilities of the test bay reflect the nature of KSB's installed base across Australia and the need to be able to test pumps of all sizes.

The 90,000-litre clean water test circuit is designed for flow rates of up to 1500 l/s at 40 bar pressure and is equipped with manifolds ranging from 80mm to 600mm. For larger flows and higher pressure, testing can occur at reduced speeds, and affinity laws can be used to verify test results.

The 12,000-litre wastewater test circuit is designed for flows up to 200 l/s at 14 bar pressure and is equipped with manifolds ranging from 80mm to 250mm. The test bay is equipped with variable speeds from 7.5kW to 630kW.

This test bay allows KSB to test all refurbished pumps — ensuring repairs meet OEM benchmarks — regardless of manufacturer. As part of KSB SupremeServ, customers receive our four-part dedication to quality refurbishment: analysis, commissioning and start-up, operational support, and repair and maintenance. These quality keys are available over the operating lifetime of any pump leaving the Hope Valley Test Bay.

KSB Australia Success Story

When an iron ore mining facility producing more than 15 million tons of ore per year needed a reliable pump for slurry transport and water processing, KSB was selected because of the team's slurry and non-slurry pump expertise.

To facilitate this complete pump investment, KSB assembled the pumping equipment in KSB Hope Valley, our Western Australia facility dedicated to supplying large GIW® Slurry Pumps which are capable of handling high volume aggressive liquids and slurries. Once our engineering team determined the right pumps for the project, we tested and delivered the complete package — 66 pumps in total — 23 vertical cantilever pumps for sump applications, 19 end-suction GIW® pumps for slurry transport, 17 end-suction pumps for process water, and seven pumps for firewater and raw water applications.

All 66 pumps were installed in 2012, and to this day, the experienced KSB SupremeServ team have been on hand to ensure these pumps are running smoothly, keeping downtime to a minimum: A promise the KSB SupremeServ and KSB Mining team make to all our customers.

KSB Leadership in Australia

Our impressive track record in Australia is due in large part to the leadership of Brett Lewis, KSB Australia's Head of Mining & SupremeServ. Mr. Lewis brings over 30 years of pump industry experience — 20 of those in mining — to the service of our Australian customers. Before he became our Head of Mining & SupremeServ, Mr. Lewis worked as a field service engineer at KAM Mining and led the Western Australia State facility for KSB as Mining & National Sales Manager. His industry reputation has earned him a key role on the KSB Group Global Mining Team.

Over the years, centrifugal slurry transport pumps have become a passion for Mr. Lewis, and it has driven his success with various clients across mining industries, where he leads KSB teams to evaluate and improve the wear life of existing installs and future applications.

Mr. Lewis and his first-rate team at KSB Australia are eager to build upon KSB's 80+ years of success in Australia by delivering excellence in mining services across the country for the next 100 years. Watch this video to learn more:
