Vancouver-based Orla Mining said it has poured its first gold from its Camino Rojo oxide mine in Mexico.
The first pour took place on Dec. 13, for a total of three bars with a total weight of 1,278 ounces. These contained approximately 770 ounces of gold and 510 ounces of silver.
Orla plans additional pours in the December quarter.
The company will continue with commissioning and ramp-up throughout the month of December and in the January quarter of 2022.
Commercial production is targeted for the end of the January quarter. Orla will provide operational guidance for 2022 in the run-up to commercial production.
In November, Orla mined a total of 466,215 ore tonnes for an average grade of 0.65 g/t of gold. The company crushed and stacked 374,976 tonnes of ore on the heap leach pad.
For 2021, Orla mined a total of 1.6 million tonnes of ore at an average grade of 0.72 g/t of gold, and crushed and stacked 750,564 tonnes.
