The P500 was designed to work effectively at 500 horsepower (350kW). Its head diameter measures 59 inches (1,500 millimetres) with a maximum feed opening of 13.5in (343mm) and closed side settings from 3/8in to 2in (10-50mm).

The P500 joins the existing Patriot line, which includes the 200, 300, 400 and 600 models. The newest addition has an inverted or reverse design of tramp relief cylinders to make sure its hydraulic seals are not exposed to contamination, and the tramp relief system has been built with fewer accumulators for less maintenance, as well as an automatic pressure relief valve.

The P500 features a universal crushing chamber design. According to Superior, it does not require any major or time-consuming change-outs during the transfer from secondary to tertiary applications.

Additionally, in the event of clamping pressure loss during use, its counterclockwise countershaft rotation opens the crusher - rather than turn it down, which has the potential to cause damage.

Minnesota-based Super is planning the official launch of a dozen new products at the upcoming ConExpo/Con-Agg event in March in Las Vegas, Nevada, US. They include the Sentry horizontal shaft impact (HSI) crusher; the Fusion modular platform; the belt drive Valor vertical shaft impact (VSI) crusher; the bolted model Liberty jaw crusher; the Alliance low water washer; and the portable Spirit wash plant.

In addition to the P500, additional equipment with new features will include the Anthem inclined screen; the gear drive Valor vertical shaft impact (VSI) crusher; the Aggredry dewatering washer; and the TeleStacker conveyor.
